Respected Tai Chi enthusiasts,

On behalf of the Tai Chi Association of the Republic of China, I am pleased to announce the successful hosting of the 8th World Tai Chi Championship, co-organized by the International Tai Chi Association of the Republic of China and the Taipei City Government. This event took place at Taipei Arena from October 28th to 29th, 112th year of the Republic of China (2023). Over the course of two days, more than 300 international participants from 21 countries joined over 2,000 domestic Tai Chi practitioners in the competition and performances, which were witnessed by over 10,000 spectators. A total of 682 medals and 46 trophies were awarded across the competition's events, which included both forms and push hands categories, showcasing the highest levels of skill and intensity.

The World Tai Chi Championship, which has been held every two years since the inaugural China Cup in 1992 and was renamed the World Cup Tai Chi Chuan Championship in 2006, is an event deeply rooted in history and culture. It not only serves as a significant sporting event but also as a platform for the demonstration of the essence of Chinese martial arts and culture.

The grandeur of this competition was evident at Taipei Arena, where Tai Chi practitioners from around the world, adorned in various attires, showcased their unique styles and characteristics. The atmosphere was filled with the excitement of competition, with spectators passionately cheering for their favorite participants, creating a vibrant ambiance.

As the competition commenced, the practitioners demonstrated the essence of Tai Chi with their graceful movements, blending internal strength with external power. Every motion was meticulously executed, capturing the attention of the audience who watched with rapt attention.

Throughout the competition, the participants showcased various styles of Tai Chi, each with its own elegance and power, reflecting the diversity of this ancient art form. Their performances were a testament to the rich heritage of Tai Chi, captivating the audience with their skill and artistry.

In the end, the competition culminated in the recognition of outstanding performers, who received their well-deserved awards on the podium, symbolizing their achievements. The event was filled with passion and energy, injecting new vitality into the ancient and magnificent art of Tai Chi.

Tai Chi is an integral part of Chinese traditional culture, encompassing profound philosophical theories and scientific foundations. It not only enhances physical well-being but also promotes mental and spiritual harmony. We hope that through this competition, we can continue to promote the charm and value of Tai Chi to a wider audience, thereby improving the quality of life and fostering a harmonious society.

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Wu Zhongxian, the Secretary-General, Mr. Wu Yiping, the vice Secretary-General of the National Tai Chi Chuan Association, Mr. Peter Tsai, the secretary general of World Tai Chi Chuan Federation, the Vice President from France, Mr. William Nelson, the Vice President from Japan, Ms. Sakai Mie, the Vice President from Korea, Mr. Lee Chan, the Vice President from the United States, Mr. Xing Ruhong, as well as the Vice Chairmen from Taiwan and members from various countries, for their enthusiastic participation.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to the 450 volunteers who worked tirelessly to prepare for and support the two-day event. Finally, my gratitude goes to the Chief Referee, Mr. Wu Ronghui, Vice Chairman, the Forms Referee Chief, Ms. Tsai Anna, and the judging committee and referees for their professionalism and dedication in ensuring the success of the competition.
